Rhodes Travel Guide

Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands in the Aegean Sea, just a short distance from the Turkish west coast. Most of the resorts lie to the east of the island which is also the more sheltered side so the sea is clear and calm. Rhodes City is a stunning town with three harbours, a beach and its old town - Europe’s oldest medieval city. It is a designated World Heritage Site and is joined by the Acropolis of Rhodes, the Palace of the Grand Master, the Temple of Apollo and many more sites of interest. The resorts along the coast range from Faliraki, with its world –renowned nightlife, through to quieter more family oriented towns such as Pefkos, Ixia, Afantou and the delightful picturesque town of Lindos.

The airport is 14km south-west of Rhodes City near Paradisi. Local buses run regularly and are cheap. Taxis should cost around 28-30 euros to Rhodes City, 32-35 euros to Faliraki and 75-80 euros to Lindos. Alternatively shuttle buses or car hire are available at the airport.
