Menorca is the second largest of the three main Balearic Islands off the east coast of Spain. It is also generally considered the quietest and most family orientated. That said, there are still quite lively places should that suit your taste, including Mahon the capital city with its bars, restaurants and stunning harbour. There are also several beach resorts including Punta Prima, Son Bou, Cala en Porter, Cala en Bosch and the beautiful horse-shoe-shaped bay of Cala Galdana. Worth a day-trip is the ancient capital city of Ciutadella with its beautiful port and old town.

The airport is close to Mahon to the east of the island and buses run half-hourly into the capital. Buses also run regularly across the island and from one side to the other only cost around 5 euros.
