Flights from Doncaster to Italy
Turin (or Torino) is a large city in the north-west of Italy. It is a grand city with baroque palaces and churches, wide boulevards and leafy parks. The National Cinema Museum, the Egyptian Museum and the Cathedral of Superga are all worth a visit. For the sports fans, Juventus football club is the most successful club in Italian football and it has just moved into a new stadium on the outskirts of the city. Turin also hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics and is a major gateway to several ski regions in both Italy and neighbouring France. Claviere, Courmayeur and Sestriere are among 50 ski resorts within 1.5hrs of the airport. Chamonix, Le Corbier, Valloire and several others are within 2 hrs.
The airport is 15km north of the city and so is ideal for transfers to the skiing areas. Buses are the best and cheapest way of getting into the centre at around 6-7 euros. Alternatively taxis are approx 35 euros.
