Dalaman is the gateway to the Lycian Coast resorts in the south-west of Turkey. It is nestled between the mountains and the beaches in an area of outstanding beauty. Olu-Deniz to the south is arguably the most beautiful beach area in the whole of Turkey with its blue lagoon and white sands. Nearby Fethiye is a lively town with a picturesque harbour area. The cosmopolitan resort of Icmeler is to the north and has a mix of beautiful beaches and seafront hotels, along with many bars and restaurants. Marmaris is the largest resort in the area and is rightfully the party capital with numerous bars and clubs, but there is also a lovely old town and it is home to Turkey’s largest marina.

Dalaman airport is close to the sea to the south of the city. Taxis can be quite expensive at around 60-70 euros one-way to Olu Deniz or Icmeler, so it’s best to either share a transfer or go for car hire if you haven’t pre-booked or included in a package.
